Helmet Face Masks

Helmet face masks are an important piece of protective gear for all sports activities. Each year, tens of thousand of people are injured when they are struck by a fast moving softball or hardball. A blow to the head can result in serious injury such as blindness, knocked out teeth, or a concussion resulting in permanent brain injury. Bikers peddling their bikes along streets, even in a designated bike lane, know all to well the dangers that lurk. A distracted driver decides to turn and fails to observe the nearby bike on a collision course with the turning vehicle. A storm water grate that with slots that are too large for the bike tires to pass over suddenly catches the front of the bike and flips it and the rider head over heals, to come to a landing on the hard pavement.

Protective metal frame face masks are not the only type of face masks that are important in sporting. A snowmobiler powers his snowmobile over a snow dune and is suddenly struck with a 60 mile an hour wind blowing snow into a whiteout. The mask that he wears protects his eyes from the biting effects of the driven snow and his skin from frostbite. Without the mask, he would not be able to see 5 feet in front of his snowmobile because like a snow skier flying down a mountain side without goggles, he wouldn't even be able to hold his eyes open.

Like the snowmobiler, the motorcyclist who speeds his chopper Harley Davidson with it's shovelhead engine, dual saddle leather seats, and cruiser handlbars, needs a mask to shield his face and eyes from a blinding rain and raging wind as he speeds his bike up to 150 miles per hour down a straight highway. On days with the sun shining and no crosswind, his bike flies down the pavement, it's driver having not a care in the world except the possibility of getting a speeding ticket given by a state trooper with nothing better to do. The unfortunate soul that he is, he is clocked by radar at an even faster speed, over 160 MPH, and a squad car pulls behind him in hot pursuit. Seeing the flashing lights in his rear view mirrors, the long haired rider thinks he's in big trouble, even though there is not another car around for 50 miles. So he cranks up the gas but realizes he's being chased by a pursuit intercept car with a turbo charged engine with every special modification that tax payer's money can buy.
